The company Henry Heald & Company S.A.L. was founded in Beirut in 1837, and has built up a comprehensive range of ship agency, insurance and port services. We offer full agency and port services in the Lebanese ports of Beirut, Tripoli, Sidon and Tyre as well as all the tanker terminals. Shipping services We are exclusive agents for NYK, Nordana, Niver Lines, UECC, Finnlines, Hellasco, NYKCool, X-Press Container Line and port agents for Costa Cruises and P&O Cruises. We also represent various agency networks, including the Scandinavian Near East Agency S.A. and Worms Services Maritimes. Also NVOCCs Triton Overseas Transport Inc., Blue Eagle Consolidation Services and Romav, as well as freight forwarders Eurogate International, and global beverage logistics specialists JF Hillebrand. These are a selection of the companies for whom we act, and our complete representation list is considerably more extensive. Insurance services For more than a century, Henry Heald & Company S.A.L. was the agent in Lebanon for the Royal Insurance Company. This ceased only when the Royal withdrew from underwriting local policies. We were also claims settling agent for the Institute of London Underwriters (subsequently IUA). Our portfolio is now placed locally, and we offer a range of services including claims settling, surveying, claims investigation, and medical assistance. Customised modern offices We moved to our current premises, which we custom designed in a modern building overlooking the port, in the early 1990s. They are not only within easy reach of the port but also just five minutes away from the commercial centre of Beirut. Fully equipped with the latest communications and IT systems, they provide the ideal environment to meet the needs of our clients and principals. Professional and experienced staff Henry Heald’s professional and highly experienced shipping staff ensures the efficient handling of vessel operations, documentation, marketing, accounting and a variety of IT programmes. Conscious of the costs incurred through delays, we place an especially strong emphasis on our port operation, and pride ourselves in the smooth running and speedy dispatch of all types of vessels and cargo. Despite Lebanon’s being mainly an importing country, a large proportion of inward shipments is concluded on FOB terms In view of this, Henry Heald has a very active and efficacious commercial department. Our insurance personnel are highly competent and experienced and have excellent contacts both with the port and with medical facilities throughout the country.
