Henry Heald Syria was formally registered at the Commercial Court in Lattakia and in the Commercial Register in February, 2003, following the passing of new legislation opening the activity of ship agency to the private sector. The registered head office is in Lattakia, and we have a branch office in Tartous, which also covers the tanker terminal at Banyas. Shipping Shipping services constitute our main activity in Syria, and we offer full documentation and commercial services, as well as competent operational supervision. We have extensive experience of vessel operation and the port system in Syria, as well as a sound knowledge of the way the market operates. We have excellent relations with the authorities, and most major clients are well known to us. Our principals include: NYK Line, Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics, Hellasco Shipping, UECC,X-Press Container Line, NYKCool, P&O Cruises, Costa Crociere, SilverSea Cruises and Swan Hellenic. Insurance services We offer claims investigation, claims settling and medical assistance throughout the Syrian territory. The same high standards we have long been known for in Lebanon are also being maintained in our offices here in Syria. Customised modern premises Both Lattakia and Tartous offices are within view of their respective ports, and within a couple of minutes’ walk of the port entrance. They are similarly close to the offices of state agents Shipco, the Port Authority, and the town centre. We have equipped them with modern IT and communications systems, in order to meet the requirements of our principals and clients. Professional and experienced staff Our team in Syria is led by graduates with commercial and accounting background, good language and IT skills, and practical experience in the ports. They have undergone extensive training, both on the spot and at our Beirut office and are committed to achieving the high standards of professionalism expected from our organisation. Protection and Indemnity cover We hold Ship Agent’s Liability cover with ITIC, London and Stevedoring cover with the Navigators Club. ISO Quality Management Certification We are implementing ISO 9001:2000 standards in order to extend the certification held by our organisation to cover Syria in the near future.
